Captain Luke Hickling

Luke Hickling is the founder of Moriches Island Sailing and the most experienced sailing instructor in the Hamptons. As a native of East Moriches, and a lifelong sailor, Luke has over 13 summers of experience teaching sailing lessons on Moriches Bay. His sailing experience goes beyond small boats as he spent two winters working on a 76ft sailing yacht taking travelers between Cartagena, Colombia and Puerto Lindo, Panama, with stops in the San Blas Islands. Luke has worked as a deckhand on one of the largest sailing yachts in the world as well as a 75’ motor yacht based in Los Angeles. He has sailed across the Atlantic twice and has logged over 28,000 nautical miles at sea.

Luke does the vast majority of Moriches Island Sailing's lessons and charters himself.

• US Sailing Small Boat Level 3 Instructor 
• Commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmasters Offshore, a British captain's license for sailing yachts up to 200 tons
• USCG 100 ton Master's license, with sailing and towing endorsements
• In-date First Aid & CPR certifications.
